Australia – In Australia it is the Australian Rugby League Commission that oversees the sport and much like many countries they became a full member of the RLIF in the year 1998.

New Zealand– New Zealanders do love their rugby and they were more than happy to sign up to the RLIF back in 1998 and that is when their governing body the New Zealand Rugby League was formed
Papua New Guinea – As for just when Papua New Guinea signed up and formed the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League, well believe it or not that was in 1998 too.
Samoa – Samoa are another very proud member of the RLIF and they set up the Rugby League Samoa when they joined in the year 1998.
Tonga – It may surprise you to learn that Tonga are also a long-term member of the RLIF, and their Tonga National Rugby League was launched in 1998 too.
England- Having been a full member since 1998 England do have a lot of experience in the sport as to does their governing body that being the Rugby Football League.
France – As for when France joining up as a full member, well they too were one of the first nations to join that being in 1998 and the governing body that oversea their games is the French Rugby League Federation.
Ireland– It was only in the year 2011 that Ireland became a full member and it is the Rugby League Ireland that ensure their players and teams adhere to the sports rules and regulations.
Italy– The Federazione Italiana Rugby League is the organization that oversees Rugby League in Italy and it was just a couple of years ago in 2017 that they became a full member of the RLIF.
Jamaica – Not that long ago back in 2013 Jamaica decided the time was right for them to become a full member and that is the year that the Jamaica Rugby League Association was set up and launched.
Lebanon – It was in 2012 that Lebanon became a full member the Lebanese Rugby League Federation was instigated.
Russia – A year after the above nation joined and became a full member of the RLIF, Russia joined and that was of course in 2012 and their governing body is the Russian Rugby League Federation.
Scotland – Scotland are certainly proud member of the RLIF, and the Scotland Rugby League was launched in 2011, so whilst not one of the oldest full members they are one now.
Serbia – Not many people are aware that Serbia did join the RLIF in 2012 and it is the Serbian Rugby League that is the governing body there.
South Africa – Another very long-term member of the RLIF is South African who joined in the early days back in 1998 and their governing body is the South African Rugby League.
Ukraine – They do enjoy playing Rugby League in Ukraine and the Ukrainian Federation of Rugby League was formed back in 2013, so they haven’t been a full member for that long it’s fair to say.
Wales – It would be surprising if Wales was not a full member of the RLIF, however they are, and it was in 2019 they signed up and the Wales Rugby League was formed.
Now you are aware of just which nations are full members of the RLIF, let me know move on to giving you some insight into just which nations are affiliates, and you will of course find plenty of Rugby League teams playing in the following affiliate members countries too.
Brazil – The Confederação Brasileira de Rugby League was formed and went live in the same year as Brazil became an affiliate member and that was only very recently in fact they did join as such only in 2019.
Canada – Canada have been an affiliate member for not that many years and it was only in 2013 that they became one and then launched the Canada Rugby League.
Chile – The Federacion de Rugby Futbol League was formed in 2018 which is when this nation became an affiliate member of the RLIF.
Czech Republic – As for when this nation joined as an affiliate member and formed the Czech Rugby League Association, well that was in the year 2011.
Germany -Over in Germany it is the Nationaler Rugby League Deutschland that was formed 2017 when that nation became an affiliate member of the RLIF.
Greece – Greece hasn’t been an affiliate member for that long as they only joined in 2018 and when they did, they also launched their governing body which for reference is the Greek Rugby League Association.
Malta – It may surprise you to learn that Malta are an affiliate member too of the RLIF and the governing body for that nations game is the Malta Rugby League which went live and was launched in the year 2013.
Netherlands – The Netherlands are also an affiliate member and when they joined as such, they launched the Nederlandse Rugby League Bond and for reference that was in 2017.
Norway – Norway are more than happy to be affiliate members of the RLIF, and their governing body is the Rugby League Norge which was formed when they join as an affiliate back in 2011.
Spain – The Asociación Española de Rugby League is the governing body for Spain, and they became an affiliate member in 2015.
Turkey – Turkey are another affiliate member of the RLIF and they launched their Turkish Rugby League Association in the year 2018.
United States – As for when it was that the USA became an affiliate member and launched the USA Rugby League well that was back in 2015, so is wasn’t that long ago.
The final level of members is known as the Observer Members, and once again I will be listing each of them below and giving you an overview of their governing bodies and letting you know when they achieved Observer status too.
Albania – It was only in 2018 that Albania become an Observer Member and their governing body is the Albania Rugby League 2018.
Belgium – This nation is overseen by their governing body which for reference is the Belgium Rugby League Association and they acquired Observer status back in the year 2013.
Bosnia and Herzegovina – Over in Bosnia and Herzegovina it is the Asocijacija Ragbi 13 Bosna I Hercegovina that is the governing body of that nation and they joined as an Observer Member in 2018.
Bulgaria – Over in Bulgaria it is the Bulgarian Rugby League Federation that oversees Rugby League in that country, and they signed up as an Observer Member not that long ago in 2017.
Burundi – It is the Burundi Rugby League that was formed in 2016 that oversees the game in Burundi.
Cameroon – In Cameroon it is the Association Cameroon Rugby League that oversees the game there and they became an Observer Member in 2017.
Denmark – As of the governing body in Denmark who joined back in 2011, well that governing body that oversees the game there is the Dansk Rugby League Forbund.
Ethiopia – In Ethiopia it is the Ethiopian Rugby League Association that is the governing body of the sport and that nation became an Observer Member in the year 2014/
Ghana – Ghana acquired Observer Member status in 2014 and their governing body is of course the Ghana Rugby League 2014.
Hungary – It is the Hungary Rugby League Federation that oversees the sport in Hungary, and they became an Observer Member only in 2013.
Latvia – Have been an Observer Member for several years now in fact they did become such in the year 2008 so well over a decade ago and the governing body that oversees the sport in that country is the Latvia Rugby League Federation.
Morocco – As for just what the governing body of the sport is over in Morocco who for reference have been an Observer Member since the year 2012, well it is called and known as the Fédération Marocaine de Rugby League.
Nigeria – Nigeria became an Observer Member in 2014 and their governing body for reference is the aptly named Nigeria Rugby League.
Palestine – Not that manner people are aware that Palestine is also an Observer Member of the RLIF, and it is the Palestine Rugby League that does oversee the sport in that nation and as for just when it was they joined as such, well that was in the year 2014, so they have been involved for a number of years now.
Poland – As for the governing body of Rugby League over in Poland well that is the Polska Rugby XIII and as for the year that they became an Observer Member, that wasn’t that long ago for they became such only in the year 2017.
Saudi Arabia – The sport of Rugby League is of course popular in many different parts of the world and another proud Observer Member is Saudi Arabia and they became such in the year 2013 and as for the name of their governing body, well that is the Saudi Arabia Rugby League Association.
Sierra Leone – You may be surprised to learn that Sierra Leon is an observer member too and their governing body is known as the Sierra Leone Rugby League Federation.
Sweden – As for when it was that Sweden became an observer member well that was in the year 2011 and that is when they also formed their Sweden Rugby League.
